Reappropriations meaning

Résumé : Abstract This study, based on the observation and anthropological analysis of social facts in a Kayambi community in northern Ecuador, addresses the evolutions of the territorial context of this region characterized by the reappropriation of physical spaces and the reinvention of categories such as the huasipungo, an important element of contemporary social organization, which in the current context has taken on a new dimension. The reflection aims to understand the complex relationships that structure the space, we also explore the different contexts in which the Kayambi social imaginary has been nurtured; the relationships between the different actors, the ritual obligations and exchanges, the myths and the dynamics of territorial reconstruction.

Meaningful appropriation

Reappropriation is the process through which a pre-existing text is taken and, by means of a new montage or a new spatio-temporal location, a new text is produced that functions as a mechanism to destabilize a hegemonic narrative, in a context of power relations.[1] The reappropriation of slur includes its transformation into a word of autonomy.

The reappropriation of the insult includes its transformation into a word of autonomy. The use in the first person of words that function or have functioned as insults subverts their meaning. The hegemonic use of insult or insult is a process by which the subject is constituted as excluded, abject, as a non-legitimate subject in an order or regime. The insulting enunciation accumulates the power of authority through repetition or quotation in a set of preceding authoritarian practices.

Through the process of reappropriation, the insult is used in a different intentional context and breaks and subverts that chain of authoritarian transference by which the subject it interpellates is excluded, and thus produces effects of construction and identity affirmation by which its meaning is radically modified: from being the mark that defines an uninhabitable space, it becomes a sign of collective identification, of community affirmation and of construction of relatively autonomous practices. The force of authority is displaced and the legitimacy of the nomination transferred from the normative instance of the regime to the subjects excluded from it.[3][4
